Weekday topic:

Jinen Ryu Kusarifundojutsu (weighted chain art of the School of Nature):
This densho (scroll) was developed by Unsui Sensei based upon his experience with techniques contained in the Togakure Ryu. Sensei’s kusarifundojutsu codifies and provides instruction on the basics and more advanced techniques of how to use a kusarifundo. This includes blocking, striking, capturing, and grappling with an opponent. You will need a shinai (padded bamboo training sword) and practice kusarifundo for training.

Weekend topics:

Shinden Fudo Ryu jitaijutsu (grappling art of the School of Immovable Teachings Transmitted by the Gods):
Shinden Fudo Ryu (SFR) was founded by Izuo no Kanja Yoshiteru around 1113 and includes complete curriculum for both jutaijutsu and dakentaijutsu. Dakentaijutsu involves defending oneself from an opponent by sending an enemy to their death through the use of throws, strikes and joint reversals. Jutaijustu involves defending oneself from an attacker by using joint locks and other grappling methods. This weekend’s training will begin at the start of the jutaijutsu densho. It must be mentioned that this is exceptionally brutal material. Participants should be physically prepared for very hard and challenging training. No practice weapons are required for this material.

Jinen Ryu Nitojutsu:

The materials contained in the Jinen Ryu Nitojutsu densho are entirely created by Unsui Sensei based upon his years training. The foundation for the movement in this school derives from Gyokko Ryu koshijutsu and Koto Ryu koppojutsu. This material instructs the practitioner in the simultaneous use of two swords, one short (shoto) and one long (daito). You will need the following tools to train in this material: two bokuto (wooden swords), one shoto fukuro shinai and one daito fukuro shinai.

Please Note: Shinai, both short and long, and training kusari fundo will be available for purchase at training. No loaner weapons will be available from the seminar sponsors.
